A broad variety of marine services are available on the island. Bareboat and crewed, yachts and sailboats of all descriptions can easily be rented. On the Dutch side, rentals are available primarily in Philipsburg and Simson Bay. On the French side, these services are found in Marigot, in Anse Marcel on the north coast and in Oyster Pond on the east coast. There are races throughout the year and every March, the island hosts the famous Heineken Regatta. Those who would enjoy an Americas Cup experience can try a shortened version, called the 12 Meter Challenge. Deep-sea fishing is popular and charter rates usually include bait and instructions for the inexperienced. Typical catches include tuna, barracuda, marlin, dolphin fish and yellowtail. Half or full day sails around the island, including snorkeling and a picnic lunch, can be arranged as can dinner cruises. Visits by boat to the neighboring islands of Anguilla, Saba, St. Kitts or St. Barth can be set up on the spot. Please click here for French side boat rental and yacht charter services.
