ST. MARTIN / ST. MAARTEN / Currency / Banking / Exchange Rates

The official currency of Dutch St. Maarten is the Netherlands Antilles guilder (ANG). In French St. Martin, it is the Euro. However, US dollars, traveler's checks and major credit cards are widely accepted throughout the island.

You will often get a better rate of exchange at the local banks or ATMs than you will at hotels. Visitors should not leave cash or essential items unattended. Most hotels have a place to store important documents or valuables in rooms or at the front desk, as do most villas and condominiums.
